MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Aggieville area is due to get a few new businesses later this year, offering locals and tourists alike some new places to eat or grab a drink.
KSNT 27 News spoke with Dennis Cook, executive director of the Aggieville Business Association, who said three new businesses may be calling the Aggieville area home later this year. Two are restaurants while another is an additional location of a local brewery.
Hunam Express, a Chinese restaurant located at 1112 Moro Street, which has called the area home for more than a decade, closed around a month ago. Cook said the location should be open again by the fall this year under the name Full Circle, a new breakfast-centered eatery under the ownership of Michael Chen, Tanner Hockenbury and Cameron William.
Hockenbury and William currently run the Nico’s Little Italy restaurant in Aggieville while Chen runs the Chen’s Chinese Restaurant on Anderson Avenue. The men hope to give people some new options for food in Aggieville.
Hockenbury and Chen told 27 News they plan to offer customers a lot of breakfast classics at Full Circle in addition to omelets, chicken and waffles and homemade cinnamon rolls. The restaurant will initially open for food tasting for friends and family in early August then have a soft opening before being open completely for customers by the end of the month.
“Its really bringing something new to Aggieville,” Hockenbury said. “We’ve had this breakfast place concept for some time actually.”
Hockenbury said they’re planning to make Full Circle have a “retro disco vibe” to offer locals something new to experience. They plan to have the restaurant open 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday then open it from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday for cocktail hours.
“We’re trying to bring newer ideas to Aggieville,” Chen said. “We’re hoping to do more concepts like this in the future.”
Near to Full Circle will be a new Mexican-themed restaurant called 1800 Tacos and Tequila, also owned and operated by the trio behind Full Circle. Cook said this will replace the former Gordo’s Restaurante Mexicano which occupied the space at 1116 Moro Street until it closed in August 2023.
Cook also said the Aggieville Brewing Company will be adding a new location at 1123 Moro Street later this year where a Pizza Hut used to sit. The brewery’s website shows it will be adding a location here to complement its other space on Pillsbury Drive. 27 News has reached out to the Aggieville Brewing Company regarding this location but has yet to hear a response.
