RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police detectives have made an arrest in a homicide that occurred on Chamberlayne Avenue last summer.
On Wednesday, June 19, Fourth Precinct Officers with the Richmond Police Department arrested 19-year-old Is’mael Lane, of Richmond, who had warrants on file for the murder of 58-year-old Raymond Byers, also of Richmond.
On July 1, 2023, at 9:22 a.m., officers were called to the 3900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for a wellness check. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Byers down in an apartment with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to officials, Lane was charged with murder, robbery resulting in murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
