Officers from Greeley and Fort Lupton police departments responded to a gravel quarry in Weld County late Wednesday night after an employee reported it appeared a car had gone into the water near U.S. 85 and Weld County Road 22, according to a news release from the Greeley Police Department.
The Greeley Police Department and Colorado Bureau of Investigation had issued missing person alerts for Leslie Elizama Vicente Vicente, 19, earlier that night when she failed to return home to Aurora.
Vicente was last seen driving south on U.S. 85 between Platteville and Fort Lupton around 9:49 p.m. June 13, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said in an endangered missing person alert. CBI deactivated the missing person alert around 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20.
Dive team members from the Greeley and Fort Lupton fire departments responded to the scene alongside police and recovered Vicente’s body, the release stated. She was the only person in the vehicle.
The Weld County Coroner identified the body as Vicente, and Greeley police turned the case over to the Fort Lupton Police Department for further investigation.
This is a developing story.
