The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is deploying to Minden, Iowa, and Elkhorn, Nebraska, in the wake of a storm system that tore through the Midwest, ripping off roofs, blowing out windows, and leaving behind piles of debris. Hundreds of homes were damaged in these communities just outside Omaha, Nebraska.

At least 102 tornadoes have been reported in the Midwest in the last two days.

“Those who live in the Midwest are not strangers to tornadoes—and both Nebraska and Iowa are located in the heart of Tornado Alley,” said Josh Holland, international director of BG-RRT. “While the tornado emergency system helped prevent any loss of life in the greater Omaha area, there are still hundreds of families dealing with the aftermath of massive destruction from the tornado outbreak on Friday.

“The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team crisis-trained chaplains are familiar with this type of catastrophic loss and will provide emotional and spiritual support to those affected by storms.”

Chaplains will minister alongside disaster relief organization Samaritan’s Purse. Mobile Ministry Centers will deploy to the area today, providing a safe haven for community members to talk and pray with chaplains.

Please pray for suffering individuals in the Minden and Elkhorn communities and for chaplains serving there, that they will “be able to give them the same comfort God has given us” (2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT).
