ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Angelique Sanchez, the mother who triggered an Amber Alert when she abducted and fled with her son 10-year-old Carlos Hernandez, has been located and taken into custody.

New Mexico State Police say Sanchez was located and arrested near 5th and Belrose in Albuquerque on Wednesday, April 24. Carlos Hernandez was with her at the time of her arrest and the Amber Alert was cancelled. Police say the boy is safe.

Sanchez had her parental rights suspended by the courts after she struck Carlos at a methadone clinic. According to a criminal complaint, NMSP spotted Carlos with Angelique April 22 around 12:30 p.m. at the New Mexico Human Services building. When an officers attempted to contact Angelique, she rammed into an NMSP patrol vehicle and fled the scene driving the wrong way on Menaul Blvd. with Carlos inside the car.

According to the complaint Sanchez faces multiple charges, including child abuse, from the the April 22 incident.
